PokerStars has had a great year, with much success all over the globe. However, it doesn’t seem ready to rest as it has already made a plan for 21 events next year, which means that players will. PokerStars has announced a bevy of live events for 2020, including three European Poker Tour stops and plenty of opportunities to win a Platinum Pass to compete in the PokerStars Players Championship. Here’s a look at what PokerStars has on offer in 2020 for live events.
PokerStars have announced that the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship and EPT Barcelona will both be postponed until 2021.
Three other live events: Road to PSPC Cannes, Road to PSPC Madrid Torrelodones, and Manilla Super Series 14 have also been cancelled.
These join EPT Sochi, EPT Monte Carlo and BSOP Sao Paulo on the list of cancelled PokerStars live events.
PokerStars have confirmed that the PSPC will still take place at Casino Barcelona, although no new dates for 2021 have been announced.
'We are of course disappointed,' PokerStars said in a statement. 'And we sympathise with the players who will have to put their PSPC poker dreams and aspirations on hold until next year.'
PokerStars wanted to ensure that players who have been directly affected by this news received the information first. They will aim to keep connected and remain in contact with players during the hiatus.
Originally announced in August, 2019, the second instalment of the PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) was due to be held in Barcelona later this year.
Players would again be able to win packages or 'Platinum Passes' to the event, which would include the €22,500 PSPC buy-in (~$25,000), money for travel and expenses as well as a six-night stay in Barcelona for the player and a guest.
So far 186 players have received Platinum Passes, with PokerStars also announcing that 80 more Platinum Passes will be given away, taking the total to 400.
'In the coming months, we’ll bring our players even more ways to win as we make this event a true celebration that brings the PokerStars live events community back together again. It will be worth the wait.
'We are working tirelessly and will keep you posted as soon as we have more details to share on this, or the status of other live events currently scheduled.'
